Some days stay with you for a while, and this was one of them. Makepu'u beach is on the southwest side of Oahu. In this painting, you can see Makepu'u Point, the Makepu'u lighthouse and what is considered to be the best body surfing beach on Oahu. Forget Waikiki! Get out of the crowd, head south to this beach and see how many shades of blue are possible. They don't make enough flavors of blue paint to capture it. The water temperature is almost the same as the air in the afternoon, about 72 degrees F. Warm and breezy.

This painting is magnificently lovely to my eyes R/W Bob. I was just considering what you said about how they don't make enough flavors of blue to capture it! Oh how I know the feeling! Just like there are not enough flavors of pink to capture blossom, or green to capture sunlit foliage! You have done brilliantly well though in your beautifully blue and alive expression. I feel like I'm breathing in the atmosphere and energy of this place and perfectly preserved moment. No more I can say! (only just to add that the orange umbrella is such a perfect touch!) L/F

Wow ! Bob, the colors, those purpleish blue tones , the contrasts are incredible in this work. Those blues simply blew my mind. I understand why you keep in memory that place and that day ... I understand because this painting transmits so much, it has so much soul in it. Amazing, beyond words work . Don't mention your exquisite technique ... just few brush strokes and the orange umbrela is done ... Don't mention the great composition. The most important thing is that this painting has a great energy and lot of soul. FL
