Kailua is on the windy side of Oahu, opposite of Honolulu. It has no high rise buildings, no hotels and far fewer people. In short, it is paradise unspoiled. I went for a walk early one morning and watched the sun come up over the ocean. In this painting I used an unrefined, direct approach to get as close as I could to capturing the atmosphere.
