Description
Visiting my daughter and son in law on the island of Oahu Hawaii for Christmas, I came across this pair of signs under a coconut palm in the early morning on Christmas Eve. I am guessing that somewhere along the line, somebody found out the hard way that it wasn't prudent to sit under a coconut tree! That same day I saw a surfer heading out wearing a Santa hat. That was a great day. I painted as quickly as I could in fading light. I intended to finish it the next day but after looking at it I decided it already said what I wanted it to say.

The light in this painting is so beautiful and special, Bob. The humoruous story behind this work makes me smile and you so greatly painted the signs with " no sit. Falling coconuts. ". I love a lot the immediacy, the spontaneity in your brush strokes that add a wonderful movement to the entire composition. The balance between warm and cold tones is perfect, as it is in all your works. Gorgeous painting. FL
