Effortless simple beauty. Yes to the the description, no high rises and fancy hotels. Got my vote :-) I used to go to Jekyll island in Georgia off the coast because of that very thing. A place seemingly from the past. Wide beaches and few people, simple hotels not many, no shops, definitely no fast food restaurants with their big neon-signs, but one small convenience store. you had to bring anything you wanted from Brunswick over the bridge. It was totally affordable for people like me. Not much money. It was like a dream place by the ocean for poor people who cared about nature and the simple life. But then they started to DEVELOP. "People were expecting certain things" enough said ! I went back once, stayed 20 minutes to look around, couldn't afford hotel prices any longer. I left disillusioned and saddened.
