A relative of mine recently described his viewing of a boat race as it left Newport Beach California for Ensenada Mexico. I had nothing to work with other than his verbal portrayal of how it looked and felt. He said it was a beautiful day with a perfect breeze out of the north to push them along their way. Can you imagine being on one of those boats? Some people have all the luck.

Lovely painting, Bob! I lived in Mexico for 7 years and used to watch this regatta from my balcony. I would flash morris code to them with a small hand mirror and would often get messages flashed back to me. Such fun!

A boat race from California to Mexico on a beautiful breezy day. Can I imagine how it felt ? An honest answer dear R/W Bob, No, not very well ! I have never been to those places. BUT, I can NOW ! I'm simply adoring the light and lightness in every one of your impressionistic brush strokes. I'm happily sailing with your fleet of boats under the scudding clouds. I think I'm on that central sailing ship, the large one, orange, with the deep creamy sail. But I don't care if I win or not, though I could do with the cash prize! Just imagining if this wondrous painting was "alive" in this moment and I was in it ! What a magic that would be ! Love the feeling here so much ! L/F
