Carrugi in Vernazza
Artist
R W Goetting
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
Carrugi are narrow stairways and alleys that wind through ancient hilly Italian towns. We get to leisurely stroll them now days but for centuries they may have provided an escape route if the town was being attacked by rival cities or, dare I say it.......Pirates! The centuries old layers of rock, plaster, paint, odd angles, walled in doorways and windows all provide a unique charm that is very intriguing. This is the first in a series of "Carrugi" painted with brush and knife, acrylic and oil.

Awesome chromatic scheme and great composition in this mesmerizing painting of yours, Bob. Love those narrow stairways of Vernazza. We walked on few of them searching for the one which leads to the upper hill view point. Gorgeous work as always with you. Fl
