Description
Primativo is the name that the Italians give to this type of grape. We mostly refer to it as a Zinfandel grape in California. "Primativo" makes it sound like an aboriginal type in some ways and maybe that's right. It is a tough old vine, some of them in Calfornia are 100 years old and still producing fruit. It likes the warmer climates and make some wonderful wine in the right hands.

I'm so appreciating this exquisitely painted still life R/W Bob. Hardly "still" though. In fact these intense inky purple voluptuous grapes seem to be calling out to be pressed into a very tasty wine. I know nothing at all about wine though! But they look so beautiful in your painting that I just know they would taste good also! Love very much the arrangement and depth of color. A joy to view! L/F
