Description
The British were out to get Baltimore in 1814. They attacked Fort McHenry with "Bomb ships" that could project an exploding 18" cast iron bomb more than a mile. They pounded the fort for the entire night, through heavy rain and lightning strikes. The Americans held the fort, the British sailed off in the morning mist, and the Stars and Stripes prevailed as a most splendid banner.
